Gardai to quiz writer over teen sex claim
GARDAI have not yet interviewed the well-known journalist who is under investigation for an alleged affair with an underage girl.
The writer is accused of being in a sexual relationship with the girl (16) at a Dublin GAA club.
The allegations first became public last April and since that time the journalist has been receiving psychiatric care.
The Herald has learned that a psychiatrist who has treated the suspected paedophile has not yet given gardai "the all clear" to question his patient.
The journalist and author, in his late 40s, is understood to be receiving out patient care in a south Dublin medical facility.
A former GAA coach, the suspect has not worked since the allegations were made and is now living on his own in a Dublin flat. After the allegations came to light, the journalist attempted to commit suicide and has been receiving medical care ever since.
