Gardai discover 500 cannabis plants worth €900k in grow house
A woman in her 20s has been arrested after gardai discovered an industrial-sized cannabis grow house in Co Clare.
More than 500 cannabis plants worth an estimated €900,000 were seized when gardai searched the sprawling property.
The period property is in Tinarana, on the shores of Lough Derg, near Killaloe.
The woman was arrested at the scene and is being questioned by gardai at Ennis Garda Station.
The Clare Divisional Drugs Unit was being supported by local uniform and plain clothes gardai and the Western Region Armed Support Unit.
The Cork Garda Dog Unit was also involved.
Gardai reported that a significant grow house was discovered with evidence of the production of cannabis at all stages.
The haul included nursery plants, mature plants and dried plants.
Gardai said that a non-Irish national woman in her early 20s was arrested at the scene.
She was last night detained at Ennis Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The spokesperson reported that the search and investigations remained ongoing.
The grow house was understood to be a sophisticated operation with heat lamps.
The woman in custody was found hiding in the attic of the house by garda dog Lazer, a German Shepherd.
Pictures taken by gardai inside the grow house showed rows and rows of plants.
