A post-mortem is due to be carried out later today on the body of a man found in a Tallaght house to determine what directions the garda investigation will go.

The man, named locally as Aras Putonas, believed to be in his mid-40s, was discovered at a rented house in Newhall Court just off the N81 Blessington Road at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The emergency services were called and neighbours said they saw paramedics and a fire engine at the scene.

The paramedics then notified gardai of the man's death and the scene was preserved pending a technical examination.

Yesterday, members of the garda technical bureau carried out a forensic examination of the scene.

There were no obvious signs of a break-in or forced entry, and it is unclear who phoned the emergency services.

Noise

A morgue ambulance then arrived and the man's body was removed for post-mortem.

Neighbours said the man had lived at the house for a number of years with his partner and two children. He is originally from Lithuania.

Locals said they did not hear any noise at the house, and they were surprised to learn that the man had been found dead.

"They are quiet people and keep to themselves. They don't cause any cause for concern," said one man.

"Sometimes I would see the man out walking the dog, and he introduced himself to me once but otherwise he would just say hello."

Another neighbour said: "We are all wondering what happened to him. I hope it wasn't anything suspicious."
