Gardai appeal for witnesses to shock city centre attack
APPEAL: These men could hold vital clues to vicious beating of student
GARDAI are appealing for information about a vicious assault that left a young man fighting for his life after a city centre attack.
Our exclusive CCTV images show at least five men who officers believe might have information about the assault in which a the young Dublin man was left with a broken bone in his neck.
Detectives are keen to speak to the five men.
The attack happened at the junction of College Green and Angelesea Street on March 20 last.
Three people were assaulted in the incident which left two men with minor injuries -- but a 22-year-old Dublin college student suffered a broken nose and a broken bone in his neck.
Sources say this man has since made a full recovery but required extensive hospital treatment.
"He is a decent man from a decent family -- he did not deserve what happened to him that night. This was an entirely unprovoked attack," said a source.
Gardai are desperate to solve the case -- just one of an estimated 120 serious assaults to occur on the southside of the city centre since the start of the year.
The investigation is being led by Detective Inspector Michael Cryan, of Pearse Street Garda Station.
