GAA star Sinead and team hailed as 'shining example'
Dublin Ladies GAA star Sinead Goldrick hailed the culture of her Foxrock-Cabinteely team after they received a special award from Dun-Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Two-times All-Star Sinead was part of the team that swept all before them before falling at the final hurdle in last year's All-Ireland club final.
Among their recent honours are All-Ireland Senior Club runners-up, Leinster Senior Club Championship winners and Dublin Senior Club Championship winners 2016 (participating in four finals in five years).
They were also Dublin Senior Cup winners 2016 and Dublin Senior league runners-up 2016.
Mayor Cormac Devlin was gushing in his praise of the team, saying they were a "shining example".
"For one team to participate in and win so many different competitions is quite remarkable," he said.
"Participation in women's sports is on the increase, so I believe it is important that Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council continues to support and highlight the success enjoyed by women's teams in all aspects of sport."
GAA star Sinead said: "It's great to get recognition from the county council for our achievement.
"For them to recognise what we've done during the year is brilliant. It comes from our management. They've been involved with us for three years so far.
"They've set a great foundation for us, and the players just buy into it and work hard for one another."
