Funeral of toddlers found in car boot

The funeral service was expected to take place today of two toddlers whose bodies were found in the boot of a car after allegedly being murdered by their mother.

Three-year-old Harry and two-year-old Elise Donnison were discovered by officers in separate holdalls in the boot of a Nissan car near the former family home in Heathfield, East Sussex, southern England.

The bodies were found after the toddlers' mother, 43-year-old Fiona Donnison, visited a local police station in a distressed state on January 27.

ASPHYXIA

Donnison, of Marshwood Road, Lightwater, Surrey, has been remanded to a medium-secure psychiatric unit at The Dene institution in West Sussex, charged with their murders.

She is due to appear at a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court on April 23.

Initial post-mortem examination results showed the children died from asphyxia and had been dead for less than 24 hours when they were found.

Today their father, Paul Donnison, was expected to read a eulogy at the service at Mortlake Crematorium in Richmond, south west London, from 11.30am.

Their mother was not due to attend.

In a statement issued through Sussex Police following the deaths, Mr Donnison described Harry and Elise as "the lights that shone the brightest in my life".
