IRELAND'S national pensions crisis is the single biggest financial issue facing families and warrants its own Government minister, the Independent Trustee Company has said.

The company said that the problems were spiralling out of control and the only way to address the issue was to have a dedicated minister with a responsibility for finding a way to disarm the pension timebomb.

Aidan McLoughlin, (pictured right) the trustee's managing director, said: "There has been much talk about Ireland emulating the pension regime of other countries, Australia and UK in particular."
