Fewer people saving

THE proportion of Irish people squirrelling away savings declined by 5pc in October, a new survey has revealed.

And saving has fallen by 10pc among people who are under the age of 50. The savings index, which measures attitudes to saving and saving conditions, also found an increase in the proportion of people not saving at all. The survey also found that despite the negative findings, the year-on-year index was largely unchanged.
