DUBLIN's Fairview Park is to get a new playground as part of an €800,000 improvement plan for the site.
The playground, with a state-of-the-art skateboarding area, will be built in the centre of the 18-hectare park, which is bounded by the Dart Line and the Tolka River.
The development, which is expected to cost in the region of €500,000, will be visible from the main Fairview Road.
Cllr Aodhan O Riordain said: "The plans are ongoing and there have been a number of meetings with residents in Ballybough and Fairview.
"We're trying to make something really special for Fairview that will last a long time. We're going to make it family friendly."
It will have a low seating wall, interactive play equipment, pathways and paved areas, a playground safety surface and treated timber boardwalk.
