Bogus clothing-collections are being carried out in the Fairview and Clontarf areas. Flyers are being dropped into homes, gardai say, between 3am and 4am.

While there is nothing that can be done, gardai have said the activity is highly questionable.

The flyers are from bogus charities like the Irish Programme of Unwanted Clothing Collection and the God Bless You Unwanted Clothing Collection.

Separately, there were a number of break-ins in the area between Clontarf and Killester in the last two weeks, but overall the number of burglaries is down.

During the third week in February, no burglaries were reported in the Clontarf area, due to an increased patrol of uniformed and plain-clothed gardai.
