Ex-Rose Tara blooms in Kylie movie
Dublin-born Rose of Tralee beauty Tara Talbot has landed a role in a new movie staring Kylie Minogue and Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock.
Tara was crowned the 2011 Rose of Tralee and has spent a lot of her time in Ireland since then working as a model with the Andrea Roche Agency.
She plans to marry her Dublin-born fiance, Fionan, in Ireland next summer.
But the former Queensland Rose is relishing her new filming gig on the $100m film San Andreas in her home town of Brisbane, Australia.
Tara plays a college student in the action film, set in California but being filmed on the Gold Coast.
And she said she's hoping her role will lead to more film and TV work, though she has also been kept busy doing commercials.
So far, she has been filming a scene with Paul Giamatti of Sideways fame but has yet to meet Minogue or The Rock, but she hopes this will happen before her scenes are wrapped up.
It's been an exciting experience for the beauty, who tweeted: "Great working on set of The Rock movie, San Andreas.
"Worked with Paul Giamatti. What a pro. Can't wait to see final cut."
The plot follows a rescue helicopter pilot (The Rock) and his wife who make a dangerous journey across California to rescue their daughter in the middle of an earthquake.
Tara said her interest in the film industry was sparked by her time running Andrea Roche's commercial agency, where she had the responsibility of casting actors as well as doing modelling work.
Following her win at the Roses Festival three years ago, Tara - whose father is from Dublin and whose mother is from the Philippines - moved to Ireland to be able to fulfil her Rose duties.
Tara spent most of her life in Australia, and only decided to relocate to Ireland following her win in 2011.
She persuaded Fionan to move back home with her.
The film is due for release next June, the same month she plans to get married in Co Meath.
