Employment up as Dublin surges

A NEW economic outlook for Dublin has found that the capital is leading the national recovery.

The monitor finds that unemployment in Dublin is down to 8.9pc from a high of 13pc. Employment in services, which dominates the Dublin economy, is almost back to peak levels.

For housing, though, the picture is more mixed. After last year's price rises, the Dublin market is showing signs of stabilisation but rents continue to climb as the economy takes off.
