ECB is set to peg rates

The European Central Bank is unlikely to raise interest rates until at least October, according to a poll of economists, despite market predictions of an earlier rise.

The Reuters poll of over 80 analysts, has shown that they do not believe there will be any hike in rates when the ECB meets on March 3, but some believe it may come in the third quarter of the year.

Soaring energy prices, coupled with inflation running above the ECB's target, may however, push the rates up earlier than expected.
