Dust off the sunscreen - summer makes brief return
Sun-seekers rejoice as summer days are expected to make a welcome return on Monday and Tuesday.
Met Eireann forecasters said that today will be a bright day with a mix of cloudy periods and occasional sunny spells.
There will be a lot of dry weather but some passing showers can be expected this morning and in the early afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to vary from 17C to a maximum of 20C today with light to moderate west to southwesterly breezes.
Dublin today will be dry in most areas with some sunshine. There will be a risk of a few isolated showers in the capital.
Temperatures are not expected to exceed 20C in the city. Tomorrow will be generally dry around Ireland, but it will be fairly cloudly at time with temperatures between 17C and 20C.
But better days are on the way with Monday forecast to be a warm and sunny day as temperatures climb to 23C. Tuesday will be even warmer and sunnier.
It will be good news for ice-cream sellers with temperatures rising as high as 25C.
Make the best of the hot spell, though, because brollies will be making a return on Wednesday.
Midweek there will be heavy showers with rain gradually extending eastwards and the wet weather will move right across the country through the day.
Meanwhile, for Lotto fans, tonight's jackpot is expected to be €9.5m - with a good chance it could reach €10m before the draw takes place.
Last night's EuroMillions draw was in the region of €40m.
