Drunken man struck patrol van with his fist

A DRUNKEN man struck a patrol van with his fist after he was told to go home, a court heard.

Gerard Fowler (31) had been drinking and was verbally abusive to gardai.

Judge David McHugh fined him €100.

The defendant, of Fortlawn Drive, Blanchardstown, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour near his home last March 25.

Defence lawyer Christina Daly said the defendant developed an alcohol problem after suffering serious head injuries in a road traffic accident.

Ms Daly said Fowler has since attended a treatment centre and has not been in trouble since this incident.
