Double suicide tragedy after heartbroken Lisa (20) decided she couldn't live without Colin
A COMMUNITY has been left devastated after a young couple took their own lives within weeks of each other.
Lisa Healy (20), from Galway, will be buried today just two months after her boyfriend Colin Roche (24) committed suicide.
The young apprentice plasterer was found dead by his father, Fine Gael councillor Peter Roche, in the family's shed in Abbeyknockmoy, Co Galway, at the end of November. His inconsolable girlfriend took her life last Friday.
Lisa had left her sweetheart a heart-wrenching message on her Facebook page shortly after he died, which showed her distress at the tragedy.
"Colin, words kant explain how much u ment 2 me, i don't no wot ta say (sic)," she had written.
"i love u so much!! no1 will ever replace u. thanks for being mine for the last 3 years!!!
"Things will never b the same without ya. 9 R.I.P. babe, urs 4 always, lisa!!! xx?"
Cllr Roche admitted last December that he was struggling to cope with his son's death and that he could not understand why the young man had taken his own life.
Libertas party founder Declan Ganley was a close friend to both families. He spoke yesterday of the tragedy that has left a whole community reeling.
"Very dear friends of ours from both sides -- one couple lost their son to suicide just before Christmas, and now another couple have lost their daughter to the very same thing," he told RTE Radio 1's Liveline.
"This is a child we have known for years, since she was very little, and it's killing all of us. It's very difficult, it's impossible to understand, this is a very loving family.
"The same applied to the Roches, who have had to deal with the same tragedy just before Christmas. It has to stop."
Tributes for the young couple have been pouring in with many of their friends leaving them messages on the social networking site. One girl wrote: "Rest in Peace Lisa.."
"Guna miss you loads, its guna be weird without you around..."
