Dolls' Nicole is dancing queen

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is has been crowned this year's Dancing With The Stars champ.

The singer and partner Derek Hough dominated throughout the 10th season of the hit US show and beat Olympic gold medallist Evan Lysacek to win the prize.

"I feel like I just won a Grammy," she said after the show. "A dancing Grammy!"

Scherzinger performed a high-energy jive as her final dance that earned a perfect score of 30 and inspired head judge Len Goodman to say: "There can only be one winner of Dancing With The Stars. It should be you."



Mosque set for Ground Zero

A New York City community board has voted for a plan to build a mosque and cultural centre near Ground Zero.

The vote, 29-1 in favour with 10 abstentions, came after hours of contentious public comment.

The plans have angered some conservative activists and families of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the city's World Trade Center.



Life Of Brian script for sale

A script of the classic Monty Python movie Life Of Brian is set to go under the hammer.

Stars John Cleese, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin have signed the script, which will be auctioned at the Great British Comedy Event in London next month.

Palin, who will attend the event with Gilliam, joked: "This is a ridiculously unique souvenir of the film voted Best Comedy Of All Time by the Kyrgyzstan Military Academy."



Teens accused of robbery bid

TWO teenagers who allegedly "lured" a pizza delivery man in an attempt to rob him have been remanded on bail at the Dublin Children's Court.

The boys, both aged 17, have been charged with attempted robbery at the South Circular Road, in Dublin, on November 23 last.

Garda Sergeant Ciaran Noonan told Judge Heather Perrin that it was suspected that the man had been "lured" into the area by a bogus telephone call.
