Depp's ex-partner Paradis slams wife's 'outrageous' abuse claims
Johnny Depp's former partner has weighed in to the bitter break-up row he's involved in and called Amber Heard's domestic violence claims as "outrageous".
Singer Vanessa Paradis - who is mother to Depp's two children, Lily-Rose (17) and Jack (14) - has reportedly written a letter to vouch for her ex-partner as "a sensitive, loving and loved person" who was never abusive to women.
Amber Heard (30) claims that the actor smashed an iPhone into her face, bruising her eye and cheek, and submitted a photo of her face to the court.
Heard claimed Depp had a "history of drug and alcohol abuse" and been "verbally and physically abusive" during their 15-month marriage.
But Paradis has jumped to his defence, writing in a letter: "These recent allegations being made are outrageous. In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years."
Heard obtained a temporary restraining order against Depp until a full hearing on the matter next month.
In court papers, Heard alleged she endured "excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse" which included "angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him".
Heard alleged she was attacked by Depp after she celebrated her birthday on April 21 with friends at their penthouse.
She claimed Depp arrived "inebriated and high" and, after her friends left, he threw a magnum sized bottle of champagne at a wall and a wine glass at her and on the floor.
"Johnny then grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me into the bed, blocking the bedroom door," Heard said. "After several minutes, Johnny stormed out."
After initially having a "peaceful conversation" about his mother's death, she claimed Depp's "demeanour changed dramatically".
"Johnny then grabbed the cell phone, wound up his arm like a baseball pitcher and threw the cell phone at me, striking my cheek and eye with great force," she said.
"I live in fear that Johnny will return... unannounced to terrorise me, physically and emotionally."
