Dec 31 sons for identical twins

Two little boys will have four big reasons for a family celebration: they were born two hours apart on New Year's Eve to identical twin mothers.

Aiden and Donavyn Nelson's 19-year-old mothers, Aimee and Ashlee Nelson, did not plan the births to come at the same time. In fact, their due dates were about a week apart.

But Donavyn was born just after noon on December 31 at Summa Akron City Hospital, Ohio, and Aiden made his appearance at about 2pm.

Oldest Tube carriages to go

The world's oldest underground train carriages are to be replaced by Chinese-made rolling stock after a century ferrying passengers in Buenos Aires.

The 90 Belgian carriages began rolling in 1913 on the city's A-line, Latin America's first Tube route.

They are the oldest underground carriages still operating in the world, carrying 160,000 passengers every day.

Sperm donor 'must pay up'

A man who donated sperm to a lesbian couple after answering an online ad is fighting efforts by Kansas authorities to force him to pay child support for the now three-year-old daughter.

The state argues that because William Marotta (46) did not work through a clinic or doctor, he can be held responsible for about $6,000 (¤4,500) that the child's biological mother received through public assistance, as well as future child support.
