Date set for cash theft trial

A trial date has been set for three men accused of conspiracy to commit a crime in Co Kildare.

Alan Bradley (37) of Churchfields, Kentstown, County Meath; Wayne Bradley (32) -- both pictured right -- of Ratoath Road, Finglas; and Joseph Warren (29) of Belclare Crescent, Ballymun, are facing the charges, namely the theft of cash, at Tesco, Shackleton Road, Celbridge, on November 2, 2007.

The trial date was set for February 13, 2012.



Teen charged with burglary

A TEENAGER has pleaded not guilty to a house burglary in which his fingerprints allegedly matched those found on a knife at the crime scene.

The schoolboy, aged 17, pleaded not guilty at the Children's Court to burglary at a house in Kimmage, in south Dublin, on March 28 last.

The boy was remanded on continuing bail for a hearing of the case in May.



Blues legend killed in crash

An 88-year-old blues legend known as the 'Gypsy of the Blues' was killed in Florida when his car turned into the path of a bus.

Eddie Kirkland tried to make a U-turn in front of the bus at about 8.30am on Sunday.

Kirkland was flown to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Some 13 passengers were on the bus. No one was injured.

Kirkland had toured for years with John Lee Hooker. He also performed with Little Richard and Ben E King.



Motorist sped into 100 cyclists

A driver sped through a pack of more than 100 cyclists in southern Brazil, sending bikes and riders flying through the air in a scene captured on amateur video and posted online.

At least 40 cyclists were injured, with most suffering cuts and broken bones, but nobody was killed, authorities said.

Police said the suspect, who they did not name, could face charges of attempted homicide.
