Dad hurled abuse after drinking at funeral
A FATHER-of-two who shouted abuse at gardai and passersby had spent the day drinking after he attended a funeral, a court heard.
Patrick Dennehy (37) has "a very hazy recollection" of his behaviour, his solicitor said.
Judge David McHugh fined Dennehy €50.
The defendant, with an address at St Patrick's Park in Celbridge, Co Kildare, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour at Main Street in Celbridge on August 1.
The defence said Dennehy had attended a friend's father's funeral and had been drinking.
The defence said the dad is "not a drinker" and he was sorry for his behaviour.
