A MAN who stabbed a father and son as they tried to protect their property remains at large.
The father (47) received multiple stab wounds to the leg and his 17-year-old son a wound to the neck after they chased a man they had seen hanging around their house trying to break into their car.
The incident happened on the Woodbrook Lawn estate, a quiet residential area in Monavalley, Tralee, Co Kerry, shortly before 6am this morning.
The householder, a Polish man, became suspicious after he noticed a man hanging around the family home.
The man then tried to break into his car, which was parked in the driveway, at which stage the Polish man confronted him and chased him.
The householder's son joined in the chase which ended in them both receiving stab wounds.
The father was stabbed a number of times in the leg and his son received a stab wound to the neck.
The man who carried out the double stabbing ran off in the direction of Monavalley.
He is described as being of slim build with light blond short hair and around 5' 10" or 11" in height.
He was wearing a black hoodie with white stripes on the sleeves and grey tracksuit bottoms.
The victims were taken to Kerry General Hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
