The woman suffered a head injury and was knocked unconscious. She was taken by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital and remained in serious condition today.

The scene of the incident was examined by garda forensic collision investigators.

A spokeswoman for Dublin Bus said there were no passengers on the No. 39 bus when the collision occurred.

"Gardai have requested CCTV footage from the bus and we will be supplying that to them today," she said.
