Cursing banned in playgrounds

Cursing and smoking have been banned in Waterford's parks and playgrounds.

The rules, part of a major clampdown on anti-social behaviour, are laid down in the 'Parks, Playgrounds and Open Spaces By-Laws 2015'.

The use of e-cigarettes are also banned and anyone flaunting the rules could also be hit with a €1,270 fine.

The clampdown also outlaws gambling, begging, and the use of firearms.

Also on the 'banned list' are conducting religious services, flying model airplanes, or grazing livestock.
