Cowen summit

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen is meeting fellow EU leaders in Brussels to discuss long-term economic growth and it's expected the focus will be on the terms of a potential bailout for Greece.

Analysts have predicted that bailout plans for Greece could cost Ireland as much as €220m.

The money would come in the form of bi- lateral loans from any of the 16 countries in the single currency zone, except for Greece.

EU sources said the sums being discussed were in the region of €50bn, with €28bn from the IMF and the balance of €22bn coming from the eurozone countries.
