A WOMAN who lodged a counterfeit cheque into her own bank account is to be sentenced later.
Karen Dooley (33) deposited the cheque for €4,963.42 in her account via the quick lodge machine at AIB on Tower Road, Clondalkin.
The cheque was made payable to her and detected by bank staff later the same evening, Blanchardstown District Court heard.
"The defendant was identified on CCTV entering the bank and lodging the counterfeit cheque into her own bank account," said Det Patrick Cullen, adding that once staff detected the cheque there was no loss to the bank.
Dooley, of Deerpark Lodge, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to having under her control a fraudulent cheque to the value of €4,963.42 and believed or knew it to be a false instrument at AIB Clondalkin on April 8 last year.
She further pleaded guilty to an offence of trespassing on the Luas track on the red line at Naas Road, Clondalkin, last March 8 and being intoxicated on the same date.
Defence barrister Jennifer Jackson requested a short remand to prepare mitigation for Dooley.
Judge David McHugh remanded Dooley to reappear before the court on July 23 when she will be sentenced.
