Teen faces trial over iPod park robbery
A TEENAGER charged with threatening to stab another youth in a Dublin park unless he handed over all his belongings is to face trial.
Gavin Coady (19) kept his hands in his pocket pretending to have a knife and forcing an 18-year-old to hand over his iPod.
Judge Ann Watkin refused jurisdiction of the matter and adjourned it for two weeks for the service of the book of evidence.
Coady, with an address at a hostel at Back Lane, Dublin 8, appeared before Cloverhill District Court charged with robbery.
The alleged incident took place at St Stephen's Green on October 15 last.
The court heard that the DPP has directed summary disposal of the matter in the District Court.
Outlining the allegation for jurisdiction purposes, Garda Sergeant Brendan Stynes alleged the victim was walking through St Stephen's Green when Coady came up behind him and demanded he hand over all his belongings.
