A PRIMARY school teacher who collided with a lamp post was more than six times over the legal drink driving limit.

Mairead McRory (34) produced a reading of 328mgs of alcohol per 100mls of blood after a doctor took a blood sample.

Judge Dermot Dempsey said McRory didn't just have "a glass or two". He fined her €750 and banned her from driving for three years.

The defendant, of Castleview Avenue in Swords admitted before Swords District Court to drunk-driving at Rathbeale Road in Swords on January 22.

The court heard gardai were called to the scene after McRory collided with a lamp post.

Her lawyer said McRory, who has never been in trouble before, was very sorry for her behaviour, and had found the court proceedings very difficult.
