Stolen property suspect faces trial

A MAN allegedly caught with a stolen €16,000 car is facing a trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for handling stolen property.

Elvaldas Sudzius (24) is accused of being in possession of an Audi A4 that was stolen in the Midlands a year ago.

Judge Patrick Brady refused jurisdiction in the case when it came before Swords District Court, deciding it was too serious and had to go to trial.

Sudzius, of Flax Mills, Navan, Co Meath, was remanded on continuing bail for the preparation of a book of evidence.

He is charged with handling a stolen silver 06 Audi A4 on March 22 at the Rathbeale Road in Swords.

Garda Sgt Paul Madden earlier told the court he had evidence of the defendant's arrest, charge and caution by certificate, adding he was awaiting directions from the DPP.

When the case came back before the court, the State solicitor said the DPP was consenting to summary disposal of the charge in the District Court.

Judge Brady adjourned the case to July 7.
