Six months for thief with foil-lined bag
A SERIAL thief who was caught in possession of a foil-lined bag in a Swords shopping centre has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Levani Doliashvilli (30), who has 47 previous convictions including 25 for theft offences, pleaded guilty at Swords District Court to being in possession of the foil-lined bag with the intention of using it during a theft at The Pavilions Shopping Centre on November 27 last year.
The defendant has an address at Hatch Hall, Hatch Street Lower in Dublin 2.
Garda Alan Carroll said the defendant had no valid reason for having the foil-lined bag.
"He has a heroin addiction and is now attending an addiction service centre to get his methadone," said defence barrister Patrick Jackson.
Judge Dermot Dempsey imposed the prison sentence, noting that the defendant has come to garda attention on numerous occasions.
