A MOTHER of three who walked out of a supermarket with a trolley full of groceries was living a "chaotic lifestyle" at the time, a court heard.
Catherine Usher (33) hadn't been in trouble for a decade, but things had been difficult in the past few months.
Judge Clare Leonard ordered a probation report and adjourned sentencing to a date in September.
The defendant, of Smyth's Gardens, York Road in Dun Laoghaire, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to a charge of theft.
The incident took place at Tesco, Bloomfields in Dun Laoghaire on August 10.
Garda Marion Power said Usher entered the shop and placed food items and cosmetics worth €130 in a trolley.
Usher walked out of the store without paying, and was stopped by store security.
Defence solicitor Ronnie Lynam said Usher, who is unemployed and on social welfare, has three children and her lifestyle was chaotic at the time.
