Shirtless man's rant at gardai

A SHIRTLESS man turned on gardai and shouted at them "you fat f*** rat b******s" after they stopped to help him during the snowy weather before Christmas, a court has heard.

Michael Talbot (20) claimed he was jumped by three youths and bitten on his back -- but gardai said he ranted at them, and nearly blamed them for being assaulted.

The defendant, of Virginia Park in Finglas, was found guilty before Blanchardstown District Court of public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour.

The incident took place shortly before 2.30am in Finglas on December 1, 2010.

A garda witness said he was on mobile patrol when he saw a shirtless man on the road. He stopped to see if he needed help, but Talbot started shouting at him "fat f*** rat b******".

He also shouted "go f*** yourself, you p****" and "you're only scumbags".

Talbot's sentencing was adjourned to a date in March.
