Restaurant sex attack claims

A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a restaurant replied "it is not true" after he was charged.

The 37-year-old was remanded on continuing bail for two weeks to allow him to speak to his solicitor.

The defendant, with an address in the midlands, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with sexual assault.

The sexual assault allegedly took place at a restaurant in Co Kildare on July 8 last year.

The court heard that the DPP has directed summary disposal of the case at District Court level -- meaning the accused will not be sent for jury trial to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where the potential penalties on conviction are greater.

Judge Anthony Halpin adjourned the case to decide on jurisdiction.

Girl (19) denies hitting woman

A TEENAGER has denied that she hit a woman in the face, leaving her with a black eye.

Shauna Hutch (19) allegedly left the victim with a black eye as well as bruising and cuts to the face after the pair had a row.

Judge Anthony Halpin adjourned the matter to a date in March after Hutch denied the charge.

Hutch, of Cardiffsbridge Avenue in Finglas, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with seriously assaulting another woman. The alleged incident took place at a house at Ratoath Drive in Finglas on August 28 last year.

The court heard that the DPP has directed summary disposal of the matter in the District Court.
