Plumber jailed for driving on cannabis

A DAD-of-one whose life took a "downward spiral" when his plumbing business collapsed was jailed for four months for driving under the influence of cannabis.

Gary Manning (33) was sentenced and put off the road for six years for drug driving in west Dublin.

He was stopped for taking a corner at speed, then gave gardai a false name before being tested.

Judge David McHugh jailed him after hearing he had two previous convictions for drunk driving.

Manning, of Montpelier Gardens, Dublin 7, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of an intoxicant on November 8, 2012.

He was on a "downward spiral" since he lost his business, his lawyer said
