A TEENAGER who was a passenger on a motorbike that led gardai on a high-speed chase has been sentenced to one month in prison.

Leon Connell (19) has ADHD and once featured on an RTE Prime Time programme.

His solicitor said Connell has control issues if he neglects to take his prescribed medication.

Judge David McHugh imposed one month in prison, consecutive to a 12-month sentence Connell is currently serving.

Gda Sinead Tyrrell told Blanchardstown District Court that Connell, of Berryfield Road, Finglas, was a passenger on a motorbike that led gardai on a high-speed chase through Finglas on January 17 last year.

She said the motorbike rammed into the side of the patrol car and Connell fled the scene.

She added she used her baton three times in apprehending him.

Connell also admitted to threatening and abusive behaviour at Liam Mellowes Road, Finglas, on April 7, 2014.

In that incident, Gda Garry Brennan said Connell got involved in a fist fight outside the front door of Finglas Garda Station.

The court heard Connell has previous convictions, and a judge recently activated a 12-month suspended sentence.
