Pair stole s1k worth of charity clothing

TWO men who stole clothing worth €1,000 from a Breast Cancer Ireland clothing bank have been ordered to make a donation to the charity.

Mihai Bacosca (23) and Cristian Martinas (23) claimed they were "struggling for money".

The defendants, both of Courtown Park in Kilcock, Co Kildare, admitted before Swords District Court to taking the bags of clothing from a pink clothing bank belonging to Breast Cancer Ireland.

The theft took place at Watery Lane in Swords on September 21 last year.

Judge Brian Sheridan applied the Probation Act after the men donated €200 to Breast Cancer Ireland.

Gardai were alerted to the matter by council staff, who saw the men putting the bags of clothing into the back of a car.

Defence lawyer said the men are originally from Romania and were working in construction. However, they lost their jobs due to the downturn and were struggling for money.
