A MOTHER-of-six who was stopped by gardai in her car outside a Dublin court has avoided a driving ban -- after telling a judge she needed to drive her children to school.
Angela Kinsella (40) had an insurance policy, but it was null and void because she has never had a driving licence.
A judge fined Kinsella €850 but did not impose a driving ban. The defendant, of Sundale Lawn and Swiftbrook Close in Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to driving without insurance or a driving licence.
The incident took place at Tallaght courthouse car park on May 17 last year. The court heard the defendant had six previous convictions. Defence solicitor Eddie O'Connor said Kinsella had six children and had never had a driving licence.
Mr O'Connor said Kinsella had insurance, but it was null and void as she didn't have a driving licence. He asked a judge not to ban her from driving, saying she needed her car to transport her children.
Judge Aeneas McCarthy fined Kinsella €850 but did not disqualify her from driving.
