Mum arrested after refusing to leave flats in key dispute
A MOTHER-of-two who refused to leave her friend's apartment complex in a row "over a set of keys" told gardai she would not go unless she was arrested.
Caroline Clifford (20) was taken into custody and charged with public order offences after gardai found her banging on doors at the building. She continued to hurl abuse at officers when taken to a garda station.
Clifford, of Cherry Orchard Avenue, Ballyfermot, admitted charges of breach of the peace and failing to obey garda directions at Cork Street on November 6 last year.
She also admitted violent behaviour in Kevin Street Garda Station on the same date.
Garda Stephen Murray told the court he was called to the apartments on Cork Street on November 6, 2010, following a report that a woman was banging on doors.
When directed to leave, she told gardai to "f*** off" and she "wasn't leaving until she got arrested". The court heard Clifford was drunk on the night.
Her now-ex friend, who lived in the complex, would not return a set of keys which Clifford needed to get into her own house, defence solicitor Stephen O'Mahony said.
Clifford had no previous convictions. Judge Hugh O'Donnell said he would dismiss the charges under the Probation Act if the defendant made a donation to charity and adjourned the case.
