Mother's Day drink driver

A CARE worker who took her mum out for Mothers Day, but had too many wine spritzers, has been put off the road for two years for drink driving.

Maria McMahon (30) was also fined €300.

McMahon, of Raheen Drive, admitted to drunk driving at Cheeverstown Road, Tallaght on March 15.

Tallaght District Court heard she had an unblemished record and had apologised.

The judge postponed the ban for six months after hearing that McMahon was having medical treatment that meant she needed her car.

'Abuse' girl in court ordeal

A TEENAGE girl was brought from Limerick to Dublin to give evidence against her father in a sexual assault case -- despite neither the defence or the prosecution being ready to go ahead.

The girl and a younger friend were minutes away from having to give video link evidence when the case was halted as the defence lawyers revealed they had never spoken to the accused.

The man is accused of assaulting his daughter (15) and a 12-year-old friend. The case was adjourned after a judge at Dublin District Court refused jurisdiction.
