Model who appeared on Love/Hate charged with drugs possession
A model and aspiring actor who appeared in RTE's Love/Hate was allegedly caught with €4,500 worth of ecstasy tablets just a month after being on the show.
Daniel Doyle (30), with an address in Ballymun, north Dublin, appeared before Dublin District Court charged with being in possession of drugs for sale and supply.
He featured on the hit RTE drama Love/Hate during the fifth series, when it was filmed on location in his native Ballymun. Mr Doyle has also worked as a fitness model.
During filming, he put pictures of him and actors Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Nidge) as well as Charlie Murphy (Siobhan) on his social media account.
The alleged offence was committed less than a month after he appeared on the TV programme.
Over two weeks later on November 12, 2014, gardai searched a property in Balcurris Park West, Ballymun.
During the course of the search 450 ecstasy tablets valued at approximately €4,500 were recovered.
Giving evidence, Det Gda Ronan McMorrow said he arrested the accused in relation to the drug seizure on October 4 of this month.
He was taken to Ballymun Garda Station where he was arrested, cautioned and charged with being unlawfully in possession of controlled drug, MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.
Mr Doyle was also charged with being in possession of ecstasy for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying on the same date.
A book of evidence was served on the accused yesterday by Det Gda McMorrow and Judge Brennan issued Mr Doyle with the formal alibi caution.
The prosecution made no objection to bail and the defendant was remanded on bail on his own bond of €100.
A legal aid application was also made by the defence, as well as a Section 56 application which means that any recording of garda interviews or questioning of the accused must be given to his defence counsel. He will appear again before Dublin Circuit Court next month.
