Mechanic put garda in headlock
A MECHANIC put a garda in a headlock as he was angry his house was being searched for drugs, a court heard.
John Mullen (42) met gardai on the stairs of his house in Finglas, Dublin 11 and grabbed one in a headlock while he was searching a bedroom for drugs.
The court heard that Mullen's partner has battled drug addiction, and their home has been raided a number of times.
A judge ordered Mullen to complete 200 hours community service in lieu of four months in prison.
The defendant, of Dunsink Drive in Finglas, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to assaulting Garda Eoin Browne on January 19 last year.
