A DUBLIN man has been sent for trial charged with arson on a house that was allegedly set alight while the occupants were inside.

Stephen Rock (49) had a book of evidence served on him at Dublin District Court.

Mr Rock, with an address at Cremona Road, Ballyfermot, is charged with arson.

The offence is alleged to have happened at Colepark Drive, Ballyfermot on July 12 last.

A State solicitor said the DPP was consenting to the accused being returned for trial to the present sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Michael Walsh gave the defendant the formal warning that he must provide within 14 days to the prosecution details of any alibi he intends to rely on in the course of his trial.

The court heard previously that the defendant was unemployed and Judge Walsh granted legal aid.

Mr Rock was remanded on bail.
