Man faces trial over €1.4k raids on shops

A DUBLIN man accused of robbing a petrol station and a convenience store within 24 hours has been sent forward for trial.

Ray Boyle (41), of Prospect Hill in Finglas, allegedly took over €1,400 in cash during the course of the two robberies.

He is facing trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Court after the DPP ruled the matters were too serious for the District Court.

The alleged incidents took place at Spar, Rathborne River Road, Ashtown, Dublin 15, on November 4 last year and at Texaco, Coolquay in Finglas on November 5, 2011.

It is alleged that the defendant took approximately €200 in cash in the robbery at Spar and a further €1,219 in cash during the Texaco robbery.

Defence solicitor Simon Fleming and one junior counsel were assigned on free legal aid.
