A YOUNG man has been accused of assaulting and breaking another man's jaw in an incident at a popular Dublin nightclub.

Stephen Hannon (22) had the case against him adjourned at Dublin District Court.

Mr Hannon, with an address at Ballybrittan, Rhode, Co Offaly, is charged with assault causing harm to a man at Copperface Jack's on December 30, 2013.

Judge Michael Walsh read a medical report on the alleged victim's injuries to consider jurisdiction.

He remarked that the man had suffered a bilateral mandibular fracture, which showed clearly on an X-ray, and surgery had been required.

Judge Walsh adjourned the case to a date in January for the defendant to indicate a plea.
