Hotel maid settles claim over back pain

A FORMER maid in the Dublin Conrad Hotel has settled her High Court action for damages claiming she had to give up her job because her heavy workload caused her serious back pain problems.

Lithuanian native Liana Aipova (45), Hazelwood Park, Artane, Dublin, claimed that because she was put under pressure by the hotel to clean and make up 12 to 14 rooms per day, it led to cumulative back problems.

She said that on three occasions in May 2007, she had injured her back from her duties. Despite efforts to return to work, she eventually had to give up the job in February 2008.

Conrad International Hotels Corporation denied the claims.

The case was due to resume yesterday before Mr Justice Kevin Cross but he was told the matter had been settled.
