Gun threat to store robber
A REFORMED drug addict said he had no option but to rob a supermarket after a gun was held to his head, a court has heard.
Wayne O'Connor's home was later searched by gardai using a type of warrant that was last month ruled unconstitutional and struck down by the Supreme Court
O'Connor (26) had pleaded guilty the previous month at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbery of €663 from Lidl on Fortunestown Road, in Tallaght on October 28, 2010.
The court heard that if he had not pleaded guilty in January, there would effectively be no case against him now.
Judge Martin Nolan sentenced him to four years in prison, which he suspended in full, after he accepted that O'Connor got involved in the offence after he "literally had a gun placed to his head" over a €5,000 drug debt.
