Girl (17) sparked a mini riot, court told
A TEENAGE girl sparked a mini-riot on a Dublin street after gardai arrested a man at a pub, a court has heard.
The girl (17) and four youths aged from 16 to 18, have been charged at the Dublin Children's Court with violent disorder, public order and assault offences, in connection with a melee on Meath Street, on January 23 last year.
Garda Robert Gilbert said that he and colleagues carried out an inspection at a pub when they found a man wanted on a bench warrant.
The man was arrested and brought out of the pub but the teenage girl tried to intervene and started to "pull at" garda.
More people began spilling out of the pub, shouting abuse at gardai, the court heard.
Judge Bryan Smyth heard that it would take a full day to hear the case; the teens' trial date will be set next week.
