A GARDA and high-profile GAA player is facing court after he was charged with drink driving.
Emlyn Mulligan (23) of Kinlough, Leitrim was charged with the drink driving offence at Sligo District Court.
However, the case must now be heard by another judge after Judge Kevin Kilrane stated he could not hear the case because he was involved with the GAA.
Mulligan, who is stationed in Longford, is charged with drunk driving at Lake Isle Road, Sligo, on January 17. He is also facing a charge of not having tax on his car.
The case was adjourned to a date in October for mention.
Mulligan is considered one of the most talented players on the Leitrim team, where he has played a major part since debuting with the team in 2008.
He has long been regarded one of the best free takers in Connacht.
The garda also plays for his local club side Melvin Gaels and is also known for his soccer playing skills.
