Father and son cleared of detective death threat
A FATHER and son have been acquitted by a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court jury of threatening to have a detective murdered.
Ian Dutton (48) of Greenfort Lawns, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, had denied three counts of threats to kill between September 2008 and April 2009.
His son, Graham Dutton (26) of the same address, had denied two counts of threats to kill during the same time period.
The men hugged after the verdict was read out.
During the trial, Detective Garda Stuart Gleeson told prosecuting counsel, Colm O'Briain, that his life was threatened on three occasions.
Ian Dutton is serving an eight-year prison sentence after gardai found him with a loaded Glock semi-automatic pistol as they carried out a drugs search at his home.
Graham Dutton was jailed for 10 years in 2009 for possession of drugs. He is appealing this verdict.
