A drug-addicted thief went to the same store twice in the space of three minutes to shoplift goods.
Shane McDonnell (22) was "so intoxicated on benzos" that he had no memory of the thefts, a court heard.
McDonnell, of College Park, Longford, pleaded guilty to theft and was given a six-month suspended jail sentence.
Gda Bryan Hunt told Dublin District Court the accused went to Boots on Upper Baggot Street at 11.44 am on December 17, 2017.
He left with goods priced at €150. Three minutes later, he returned and took a second batch of products valued at €120.
He was identified on CCTV and later arrested and charged.
McDonnell did not encounter any staff members and no property was recovered.
It was "very unusual" that someone would steal something and then come back and steal something again within a few minutes, defence barrister Glenn Lynch said.
McDonnell was addicted to "benzos" - benzodiazepine drugs such as Valium - and had no memory of the day because he was so intoxicated.
He is now drug-free, Mr Lynch added, and a probation report "reflected very well on him". He is now trying to get into work.
Judge John Hughes said it was "appalling" that someone would be "brazen enough" to steal twice in three minutes.
He added that these crimes did not have "faceless victims" as shopkeepers relied on earnings to make a livelihood.
